The maker marks on this tool usually appear around the upper and lower ends of the shifer barrel inside a zig-zag band.

  There are four different models which bear inscriptions similar to this. I am particularly interested the model which has a single spiral (RH only).

  This is similar to the other Decatur Coffin Co. screwdrivers but utilizes a socket/chuck for interchangeable screwdriver tips (single spiral, clockwise only).

  Most H. Mueller spiral screwdrivers which you will see follow closely the basic conventional patterns of other makers and do not resemble the patent illustration at all.  This Illustration is of an  earlier model in the style of an Archimedian drill which does resemble the patent (exposed shaft with sliding handle which houses the clutch mechanism).
