• FOREST CITY SCREWDRIVER COMPANY / PAT APRIL 16, 1895  / PAT APRIL 16, 1895: This sprial/ratchet screwdriver looks very similar to the basic NORTH BROTHERS MANUFACTURING CO. (YANKEE) No. 30  (Handle is different shape, it may have two shifters on opposite sides of barrel, chuck is different.)

• S. F. BOWSER & . / PAT. APPD. / FT. WAYNE, IND.: There are four different models which bear inscriptions similar to this. I am particularly interested the model which has a single spiral (RH only).


 
 
• EUREKA IMPROVED / PAT. MAR. 4 - 1890 / DECATUR COFFIN CO. / DECATUR IL.: This is similar to the other Decatur Coffin Co. screwdrivers but utilizes a socket/chuck for interchangeable screwdriver tips (single spiral, clockwise only).


 
 
• H. MUELLER MFG. CO. / Decatur, Ill. / PAT. JULY 30, 1889: Most H. Mueller spiral screwdrivers which you will see follow closely the basic conventional patterns of other makers and do not resemble the patent illustration at all.  This illustration is of an  earlier model in the style of an Archimedian drill which does resemble the patent (exposed shaft with sliding handle which houses the clutch mechanism).

• PAT APR 16-1889 / PAT APP'D FOR: This may be the only marking or may have other markings related to Gilbert T. Sutterly, Philadelphia.

• Single spiral, RH only, interchangible bit.

• PAT APR 16-1889 / PAT APP'D FOR: This is another form of the Sutterly patent above. This may be the only marking or it may have other markings related to Gilbert T. Sutterly, Philadelphia.


 
 
• UNIVERSAL TOOL CO. / GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. / UTCO. / PATD. DEC. 13, 1892 / PAT APD FOR.
Double spiral/bo-directional, interchanagle bit.
